About Rubrilyn
Rubrilyn is an independent editorial publication that researches legal software for small and mid-size firms and legal teams. We exist to answer one question, carefully: which tool fits a firm's actual work?
What we cover
We cover three categories of legal software, and only these:
- Law practice management: case and matter management, time tracking, billing, calendars and client portals.
- Contract management and e-signature: drafting, approvals, e-signature, obligation tracking and renewal management.
- Legal intake automation: lead capture, enquiry screening, conflict checks and follow-up for new matters.
Each category has a hub page that explains how the category works and what to compare before buying: /law-practice-management/, /contract-management-esignature/ and /legal-intake-automation/.
Who we write for
Our readers are managing partners, firm administrators and in-house counsel at small and mid-size firms and legal teams. We assume you are busy, that you have seen software demos before, and that you want evidence rather than marketing language.
How we work
Every comparison on this site is written by the Rubrilyn Editorial Team. We do not run our own software tests. We research: we read vendor documentation, pricing pages and changelogs, and we review public reviews and published benchmarks. Our articles state "Researched comparison" so readers know exactly what the evidence is.
We define each term once and use it the same way throughout an article. Where legal rules differ by state, we say so and use careful qualifiers. We never give legal advice, and software selection is not a substitute for it.
Our scoring method is published at /how-we-score/. Our corrections process is published at /editorial-policy/.
How we are funded
Rubrilyn is funded in part through sponsored placements and, where stated, affiliate links. Sponsored placements are always labelled "Sponsored". A sponsor's payment never decides an editorial ranking, and no vendor can pay to improve its position in a comparison. Our full disclosure is at /disclosure/.
If you spot an error in our research, we want to hear about it. Contact details are at /contact/.
